Winterdrum has been running since 1999 when it first took place as the ‘World Drum Festival’ in High Wycombe at the former Wycombe Arts Centre.
Wycombe Arts Centre has since been pulled down, but Winterdrum is still going strong. The Winterdrum festival has taken place each consecutive year till 2005, when we had a 1 year sabbatical.
Winterdrum is an event that offers participants the opportunity to attend 2 workshops and a fantastic evening of performances in the space of one day.
Workshops are available to both intermediate/adv. level players and entry level participants. Whilst we present a predominately African feel in drum and dance we strive to embrace other popular percussive cultural music, dance & song at each event
Winterdrum 2007 took place in our new venue at the Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe.
This turned about to be a great move for the event, with plenty of performance space and a fantastic festival event atmosphere in the Cafe and stalls space
The organisation of WinterDrum08 is under the auspices of local arts network Arts4every1 working with one of it's members - Justine Hart of Hartbeats.
Both Jed Hoile (Arts4every1) and Justine Hart (Hartbeats) as well as other former members of the voluntary team behind past Winterdrum events will be working again to make WinterDrum08 as enjoyable as ever.
